A Creative & Cultural Tour of (a Few Arts Spaces in) Accra
In 2019, Elle Lokko was highlighted as part of the Advancing Creative Industries for Development in Ghana (ACIG) research project — an initiative exploring how the creative economy contributes to Ghana’s future. The project, a collaboration between the University of Ghana, Copenhagen Business School, and Loughborough University, brought together academics and practitioners to better understand the city’s cultural resurgence.
As part of a tour of Accra’s most vital creative spaces — from Nubuke Foundation and Terra Alta to Gallery 1957 — Elle Lokko was featured as a hub at the heart of Osu’s urban fabric. Recognised for its curated selection of contemporary Ghanaian brands and its role as a community space for fashion, music, art, and culture, Elle Lokko was presented as a case study in how independent, women-driven platforms nurture both creativity and commerce in Ghana.
