In 2016, Elle Lokko began a vital conversation about upcycling and sustainability via @thepopshopgh —a conversation rooted in giving clothes a new home and life and solutions for a better planet. Today, we’re bringing that journey full circle with a new series spotlighting innovative initiatives in the upcycle space.
We’re thrilled to kick things off with the Kokrobitey Institute, founded by the visionary Renée C. Neblett. For over three decades, this extraordinary institute has turned challenges into opportunities, crafting sustainable designs, empowering communities, and tackling global waste issues head-on.
A highlight of the day will be the institute's sustainable fashion line, "Woté", which transforms recycled denim, cotton, and secondhand materials into vibrant, gender-neutral urban wear.
