Shaping What Comes Next

Elle Lokko x Creative DNA Fashion Accelerator Ghana

At Elle Lokko, our commitment to African creativity has never been limited to space. It extends into people, process, and the future being built in real time.

This year, that commitment took form in a new way — through participation as a judge on the Creative DNA Fashion Accelerator Programme, Ghana, led by the British Council in partnership with My Runway Group.

A Generation Ready

When the open call went out to Ghanaian fashion designers, the response was immediate and undeniable: over 290 applications from across the country.

What came through was not just volume, but clarity. Designers at different stages — early, growing, scaling — all speaking a language of ambition, identity and intent. A generation not waiting for permission, but actively building.

It reaffirmed something we have always known at Elle Lokko: the future of African fashion is not approaching — it is already here.

Inside the Selection Room

Joining fellow judges across the industry, the process of shortlisting was both rigorous and deeply energising. Each application carried more than a business plan; it carried perspective — on craft, on culture, on what it means to create from Ghana today.

The conversations were layered. Beyond aesthetics, we looked at structure, scalability, originality and the ability to sustain a brand beyond a moment.

Because building a fashion label today requires more than talent. It demands vision, discipline and a clear understanding of value — both creative and commercial.

Why This Matters

Programmes like Creative DNA are not just opportunities — they are infrastructure. They create pathways for designers to access funding, mentorship, international markets and the strategic tools needed to grow.

For a creative economy like Ghana’s, this kind of support is critical. It bridges the gap between raw talent and sustainable industry.

At Elle Lokko, we have spent over a decade working alongside designers, witnessing firsthand the challenges of growth and the importance of ecosystem. To be part of a programme actively addressing this is both necessary and aligned.

The Work Ahead

From over 290 applicants, 50 designers have been shortlisted — a powerful reflection of the depth of talent within Ghana today.

But beyond the numbers, what remains is the energy. The urgency. The sense that something is shifting — and that the next wave of African fashion will be built by designers who understand both craft and context.

The Elle Lokko Position

We do not stand outside this movement. We are part of it.

As a platform, a space and a long-standing collaborator within Ghana’s creative industry, Elle Lokko continues to support, amplify and connect the voices shaping what comes next.

Because the future of African fashion will not be defined by a single brand or moment — but by a collective of creators building with intention, integrity and vision.

And we are here for all of it.

Elle Lokko — the reference point for Africa’s creative now.
